UK board to hold math camp, and everyone’s invited

Cambridge Inter-national Examination, a UK-based board that conducts the IGCSE examination at the class 10 level, will hold a workshop in March for schools of all boards on making Maths more student-centric, reports Kiran Wadhwa.

This is a refreshing change as boards normally invite only schools affiliated to them for such workshops.

The seminar will be held in Goa and schools from that state, Maharashtra and Karnataka will be invited. Mumbai has the maximum number of IGCSE schools — 45 — of all cities in India.

A lecturer from the faculty of education of Cambridge University will conduct the two-day workshop.

“This sort of partnering for ideas will be helpful because each board has a unique perspective and sharing techniques will benefit everybody,” said Ian Chambers, regional head of south east Asia.

Involving other boards proved helpful in a similar workshop that the UK board conducted in West Bengal, so it is being replicated here. While the workshop has begun with Maths, other subjects like science will follow.

“Ultimately, the goal is help an individual student grow to his full potential irrespective of what board he belongs to.”
