Britain's foreign ministry has lowered its travel alert on Bangladesh, only advising against "all but essential" travel to Chittagong Hill Tracts in the southeast of the country.

It had previously advised Britons against all but essential travel to the entire country after Bangladesh's president declared a state of emergency on January 11and postponed national elections.
The foreign ministry on Tuesday described the situation in the country as "calm" but warned that "events in Bangladesh can move quickly" and advised British nationals to register with the British High Commission there.
The revised travel advisory came after news that Bangladesh's new interim leader had completed his government on Tuesday, as hopes for fresh elections there rose.
According to the Foreign Office, around 75,000 British citizens visit the country every year.
