Official sources said the women cadres, holed up in a remote village of Lohit district, on Sunday fired at the approaching jawans of the Army, who retaliated immediately.

The ultras managed to escape during the exchange of fire, sources said.

The jawans have launched a combing operation in the area, sources said.
