Shushil Mishra (28), who was arrested in a narcotics case took the extreme step in the jail toilet late last night, they said.

According to jail officials, Mishra was depressed with the fact that he did not get bail, while other accused in the same case got bail.

He was to get married soon, they said, adding this could have been the reason behind the step.

Mishra hailed from Mota Bharda village in Waghodia taluka of the district and was lodged in prison since May 15, jail officials said.

His body has been sent for postmortem and further investigations in the matter was on, they added.
