The judgement was delivered by the High Court on a petition filed by the State Government, whereby the latter had appealed to de-list MPSEB Karmachari Sangh and seven other workers’ unions from MP Industrial Relations Act 1960 (MPIR) list. After hearing both parties, the High Court in its judgment today said the Sangh would remain in the list.

THE MPSEB Karmachari Sangh is a trade union of MP State Electricity Board employees and is affiliated to the INTUC. Karmachari Sangh zonal secretary B D Gautam informed that the State Government had issued an ordinance in October 2005 to de-list eight industries out of 32 from the purview of the Act and filed a petition in the court in this regard.

The workers’ unions, affiliated to the INTUC, had decried the government’s move as anti-labour and a means to exploit the workers’ class.

The bench headed by Chief Justice A K Patnaik passed the judgment
