University staff demand pay parity

THE TWO-DAY national convention of All India Universities Employees? Federation (AIUEF) that concluded here on Tuesday at the convocation hall, resolved to rake up their demand to remove disparity in the pay scale and various facilities among the employees of Central and State universities.

THE TWO-DAY national convention of All India Universities Employees’ Federation (AIUEF) that concluded here on Tuesday at the convocation hall, resolved to rake up their demand to remove disparity in the pay scale and various facilities among the employees of Central and State universities.

President of the All India University Employees Federation MV Sachan said a dharna had been proposed at Jantar Mantar in November to mount pressure on the government in this regard. Vice-chancellor Prof Arun Kumar conceded disparity in the salaries and allowances of Central and State university teachers and employees. He stressed the need to convene a meeting of finance officers of all the universities to bring parity in the salaries and facilities to the employees.

MLC Ganesh Shanker Pandey, Cabinet Minister Jaiprakash Yadav, president of Gorakhpur University Employees Association Dr Brij Nath Singh, vice president Phanesh Tiwari, secretary Brijbhushan Mishra and many others also expressed their views in the convention.
