Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday directed strict action against two police constables who allegedly kidnapped and raped a 14-year-old girl inside the Musajhag police station in Badaun district on December 31.

IG (law and order) A Satish Ganesh said the state government had on Friday suspended the accused station house officer of Musajhag police station, Ram Lakhan Singh. A medical examination of the girl confirmed sexual assault. Police teams are conducting raids in Badaun, Bareilly and neighbouring districts to nab the absconding constables.

After the CM's directive, additional director general of police (crime) HC Awasthi left for Badaun in the morning to coordinate with the district police in the investigation of the case and arrest of the absconding police constables.

"On the night of December 31, my daughter went out of the house to address nature's call, while she was returning from the field the two police constables Veer Pal and Avanish pushed her in a car and sped to the police station," the girl's mother said.

"They locked my daughter in a room located in the police station. Later, they raped her and when her condition deteriorated they dumped her on the outskirts of the village at midnight," she said.

Later, she met city superintendent of police Lallan Singh and handed over her complaint. After the incident was highlighted by the media, an FIR was registered against the constables.

Badaun was in news after bodies of two teenage girls was found hanging from a tree in Katra Sadatganj village. The CBI has filed a closure report in the case.

In June 2011, a 14-year-old girl was raped and killed by policemen in Nighasan police station in Lakhimpur Kheri district. The CBI in its charge-sheet has indicted four policemen including a deputy superintendent of police.
