A constable posted in Unjhani police station of Badaun was arrested and sent to jail on Saturday after a girl alleged that he pushed her off the roof when she visited his house on Thursday evening.
The girl, a Class 12 student, had an acquaintance with constable Gaurav Titler. She was found injured and unconscious near his house on the police station premises on Thursday evening, cops said.
After her recovery, the girl’s mother alleged that two of her brothers-in law had run her over with their car. She lodged an FIR with Unjhani police and on Friday, she even gave an application to DIG RKS Rathore, demanding action in the matter.
However, when the girl regained consciousness late Friday night, she told her mother that Titler had called her saying he needed some help, but when she reached his house, he pushed her off the roof. She, however, did not spell out the reasons why he pushed her.
The mother stated all this in her second complaint, which she submitted at Unjhani police station. A case was registered against Titler under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder).
“A case has been registered against constable Gaurav Titler. He was suspended and arrested following the complaint by the girl’s mother,” DIG Rathore said.
The girl’s condition was said to be stable.
