UP Govt suspends 24 for foodgrain scam

Seven Food and Civil Supplies officials and 17 employees of the State Store Corporation suspended in connection with a multi-crore foodgrain scam.

The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended seven officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department and 17 employees of the State Store Corporation in connection with a multi-crore rupee foodgrain scam.

An FIR has been lodged against these persons for their alleged involvement in the foodgrain scam, state Food Commissioner Satyajit Thakur said on Saturday.

He said an FIR had also been filed against eight rice mill owners, four contractors and owners of transport companies.
