In a letter, the president of Uttar Pradesh Prosecution Officers’ Service Association Rajendra Yadav said that a writ petition was filed before the Allahabad High Court seeking same pay-scale for prosecution officers of the State as being given to the prosecution officers of CBI.

The High Court on January 25,2006 had directed the chief secretary of UP to take decision on the representation of the petitioner, filed in this regard, within three months.

In this letter, Yadav has said that the representation dated February 2,2006, along with all relevant papers, was pending before the chief secretary.

A committee headed by the chief secretary has to take decision in this regard, but no decision has been taken so far.

The High Court had given three months time to take decision and the three months’ time has expired on May 2, 2006.

Therefore, he requested the chief secretary to take decision in this regard as expeditiously as possible.

Besides, the association has also sent a letter to the chief secretary to take decision with regard to the promotion of prosecution officers of the State.

In a letter, Yadav has said that departmental promotion committee has already held its meeting on December 30,2005, but no promotion has been done so far.

Prosecution officers represent the State in the trial at district court and
other criminal proceedings pending in the lower court. Since all the crimes were against the State, it was the duty of the prosecution officers, who represent the State, to produce the precaution witnesses before the court and get themselves examined.
