UP to demarcate lands of idgahs, mosques
UP Govt has decided to demarcate and enter lands of graveyards, idgahs and mosques in the revenue records.
In a bid to resolve problems arising out of the illegal occupation of the lands of graveyards, idgahs and mosques in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to demarcate and enter them in the revenue records.

A government order for this has been issued, Revenue Minister Ambika Chaudhary told reporters on Saturday. The forcible occupation of such lands had caused tension and law and order problems on many occasions, he said.
Over 50 members of the state legislature had written to the government to demand demarcation of such lands and their entry in revenue records, he said.
Asked whether the demarcation of lands of other religious places would also be undertaken under the government order, Chaudhary said problems had so far been encountered only with regard to graveyards, idgahs and mosques.
Police had to be recently deployed in Meerut, Bijnore and Mau districts following tension over the illegal occupation of such lands.
