The police have identified the person as Braj Raj, a resident of 1055 MIG Awas Vikas Kalyanpur. According to information, Braj Raj was re-trenched from UPHC in April 2004. He was employed with the UPHC as a supervisor.
Leaders of UPHEA alleged that for the last one week Braj Raj had been acting as an advisor to the managing director of the Corporation. He had been making inquires about officials matters, including ongoing investigations into irregularities in the Corporation. The leaders further alleged that he was using the official car fitted with a blue beacon light. Moreover, he was occupying a posh office on the first floor of the Handloom House.
However, employees developed doubts about Braj Raj’s authenticity. They dispatched letters to minister and principal secretary (handloom and textiles) and principal secretary urging them to look into the issue.
On Thursday, when UPHEA leaders asked Braj Raj about his authority and the post he held, the ‘advisor’ failed to convince them.
Thereafter, the leaders and several employees escorted Braj Raj to Kakadev police station and the UPHEA filed a complaint against him.
However, police sources said Braj Raj had produced an authority of appointment issued by MD, UP Handloom Corporation, Shyam Lal. They said that further steps would be sent after making enquires from the MD.
Talking to newsmen Braj Raj said he had been appointed as honorary advisor to MD. However, he could not tell when he appointed. He said the appointment letter was kept at his residence.

Secretary of Hathkargha Department Ravindra Singh told Hindustan Times that he was not aware about any such appointment. However, such appointments were made with the approval of the government.
