SCHOOLCHILDREN in the State capital may not have to bother for bringing utensils for mid-day meal soon as the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to provide dishes to over 30,000 students.
The BMC authorities have realised that the problem of poor students studying in government schools and madarsas. The BMC has made agreement with a Hyderabad based NGO-Naandi Foundation, which has set up kitchen for the mid-day meal at Khajuri Kala.
The prepared mid-day meal at this kitchen is sent to over 300 schools and madarsas of the City every day. Students have to bring utensils from their homes to collect mid-day meal. Some poor children studying in the government schools are said to be not in a position to bring dishes from their home.
In charge BMC Commissioner Arvind Dubey said the BMC have been mooting to provide dishes to the students. He said the process in this direction would start soon.
Sources, meanwhile, said that lack of coordination between the BMC and Education Department has resulted in some problems. The Bhopal Municipal Corporation has been finding it hard to pay the mid-day meal cost to the Nandi Foundation as the School Education Department has not sent the records regarding the attendance of the students.
