Vaishno Devi Yatra resumes

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board resumed the Yatra to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi on Monday morning via the Sanjichhat-Bhairon temple track. The Yatra was temporarily suspended from Katra on September 4 due to incessant rains.

Mandeep Bhandari, chief executive officer SMVDSB, visited the entire track along with officers and engineers of the shrine board and took stock of the ongoing works of clearing the track, restoration of water and power supply.

The movement of the pilgrims is being continuously monitored. He said that the track from Sanjichhat to Bhawan via the Bhairon temple is narrow and it involves steep climb, particularly between Bhawan and Bhairon temple.

Considering the fact that ponies cannot be allowed beyond Sanjichhat, the pilgrims are advised to start their journey via this route only if they are in good state of health, he said.

The CEO further informed that efforts are afoot to clear all the tracks leading to the shrine.

The PHE authorities and workers are continuing with their efforts in this regard. Further, clearing the debris from the track which has come down from the slopes due to continuous rains over the past few days and still going on, may take a couple of days. Superintending engineer and executive engineer, SMVDSB, are camping at the locations to clear track of debris.
