The office and commercial areas of Agartala were water-logged though the water level of river Howrah was below the danger mark.

In North Tripura district, at least 200 families in the low lying areas had taken shelter elsewhere as the river Manu was flowing just near the danger level.

Reports from Udaipur, the district headquarters of South Tripura, said river Gomati was also flowing near the red mark.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research here forcast that the rains might continue for the next three days.

Sources said at least fifty boats were kept ready in the North Tripura district for rescue operations and as many as sixty relief centres were opened so that the flood victims could be sheltered there.
