AFTER SATURDAY’S operation flush out, the LDA is now going to turn the heat on its own erring employees involved in running a flourishing property racket in cahoots with the mafiosi in Nehru Enclave.

“I have asked executive engineer YK Jain to submit a report on all those including LDA employees, who are living in the colony by depositing just 10 per cent cost of the property,” said LDA Vice Chairman BB Singh when contacted by HT Lucknow Live. Not only are they defaulters but also trespassers, as they have not been given physical possession of these flats, he said.

“We are going to publish a list of all these defaulters/trespassers. They would be given a week’s time to deposit the balance amount that would be calculated on the current rate of the property or else they would be ejected,” said the LDA VC.

Likewise, action would also be taken against the employees, who had rented out their premises on a hefty rent without making full payment of the flat allotted to them by the LDA. “These people have reaped a fraud on the department and the money, which they have made by way of rent, would be deducted from their salaries,” Singh said.

“We do not want to take any names right now, but yes, these two blocks, particularly Rupayan, houses some influential political/students’ leaders and it won’t be easy to throw them out,” admitted an official. Surprisingly, with the exception of a few flats in Rupayan, most of the illegal occupants in these two blocks were left untouched by the LDA during its drive last Saturday.

A police officer requesting anonymity had this story to narrate. “The market in the colony also comprises a beer shop that is run with the patronage of a leader of the ruling party and because of which there were frequent brawls. When the residents of the colony complained to me about this I pulled up the beer shop owner. The very next day I was summoned to Kalidas Marg and told to mind my own business,” said the officer requesting anonymity.

Could this also be the reason for the self-induced inertia on part of the Gomti Nagar police for not taking any action on the colony residents’ complaints about the sex-racket that is being operated from some flats in the colony?
