Talking to mediapersons here this afternoon, international general secretary of VHP, Dr Pravin Togadia, said, “In 1947 Mohd Ali Jinnah split India, in 1977 Indira Gandhi slapped emergency on India and now in 2006 the UPA is trying to clamp ‘terror emergency’ on India by entertaining the clemency application of Afzal.

He said the entire world was reeling under threat of Jehadi terrorism. “When the world is coming together against Jehadi terrorism, the UPA has been appeasing those who planned this attack”, he said, adding “When it comes to Muslims, these people remember human rights”.

He demanded that a case of treason should be initiated against Congress chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, Gulam Nabi Azad and Andra Pradesh, YS Raj Shekhar Rao Reddy and former Chief Minister of J&K, Farooq Abdullah, for pleading for the terrorists who planned the attack.

“This is not only interfering in and influencing justice, but it is discrimination based on religion. Why Farooq Abdullah is not arrested for his statement that India will go up in flames if Afzal is hanged?, he asked. Such a statement is a slap on Indian tolerance, he added.

“On 20th October, at 5 pm. Afzal’s effigies will be hanged in every village and every city of India”, he said.

Around one lakh such programmes have been organised for that day, he said.
