Ubisoft, one of the world's largest videogame publishers, has signed an exclusive license with top golfer Vijay Singh to produce a video golf game titled after him.

The company said it will develop a series of sports titles in a bid to make a debut as a publisher of sports videogames.

Vijay Singh, Fiji-born of Indian descent and considered one of the most consistent and focused golfers on the tour, will now lend his name to one of the titles inspired by his powerful and aggressive style, the company said.

Off to a great start in 2005, Singh began the year by winning the Sony Open in Hawaii.

While he has been consistently ranked among the Top 10 players internationally, in 2004, Singh became the first golfer to dethrone Tiger Woods' No. 1 stronghold on the game since 1998 - with 9 victories including his win at the PGA Championship in August 2004.

True to the significance of his first name ("Vijay" means "victory" in Hindi), the title published by Ubisoft will enable players to truly compete and challenge themselves the way Singh has done, the company said.
