With frequent changes in weather conditions, more people are complaining about sore throat, nasal infection and fever.

Parents have been advised not to send their wards to school if they find any symptom of viral infection in their children.

“There is 40-50% increase in the viral infection cases this year,” said Dr Ashutosh Shukla, Head, Internal Medicine, Artemis Health Institute.

He said prevention is the best mantra to cope with the sudden change in weather and extra precautions should be taken in case of children.

Some of the hospitals are running short of beds due to high influx of patients.

“Sixty out of hundred beds we keep for new patients but all these are full because of high influx of patients. The OPD (Out Patient Department) has also gone up from 150 to 250 a day,” Dr S P Yadav of 100-bedded Pushpanjali Hospital said.

“There is an increase in viral infection cases but there is no medicine which could help. Only right eating habit and taking care of your immunity could help in controlling the situation,” chief medical officer Praveen Garg said, adding that one must take fresh and right diet and avoid cold drinks during this season.
