Visa, entry clearance fees to UK reduced

Fee for standard visa has been reduced from Rs 2,900 to Rs 2,700 among other changes in the fee structure.

In news that would hearten foreign travellers, Britain on Monday announced a reduction in visa and entry clearance fees.

The fee for a standard visa has been reduced from Rs 2,900 to Rs 2,700 in keeping with a global revision due to the exchange rates, a spokesperson of the British High Commission said.

A multiple entry visa would cost Rs 4,500 for one year, Rs 5,250 for two years, Rs 6,600 for five years and Rs 11,250 for 10 years.

The entry fee for settlement and marriage is now Rs 19,500 and certificate of entitlement costs Rs 8,250.

The fee for all other long-term entry is Rs 5,650 and direct airside transit would cost Rs 2,000.

The new rates came into effect from Monday for visitors, students, passengers in transit and returning residents.

The fees, payable on application for each visa seeker would be non-refundable.
