Rahul Mahajan and Vivek Moitra were regulars at rave parties in Mumbai. Many film stars including Fardeen Khan, who is also involved in a narcotics case of 2001, attended these parties. This is what Mumbai Police have disclosed to a team of Delhi Police that is in Mumbai investigating the case.
The Delhi Police had approached their Mumbai counterparts for further investigations in the case and had even requested the Mumbai Police to provide details of activities of Mahajan and Moitra in the city.
Investigations by a joint team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Mumbai and Delhi Police have confirmed that Vivek was in touch with a Mumbai-based Nigerian drug cartel through Sahil Zarru who was arrested by the Delhi Police for supplying drugs to Moitra.
Sources said the Delhi Police has been able to get vital information on the drug syndicate that had been supplying drugs to rave parties in Mumbai and Delhi. The Delhi Police and the NCB will now confront Sahil with the investigations conducted in Mumbai. “Sahil was primarily a front for the cartel and the three Nigerians who have been arrested — Abdullah, David and Toibu — are small players in the entire chain,” a top police official said.
Sources said the Delhi Police team has been able to get some important leads about the activities of the gang in Mumbai and Delhi. Investigations have also revealed that Sahil was working as a drug peddler for the gang in the two Metros. “Sahil, a student in Mumbai, used the business of carpets and shawls as a front for his activities,’’ the official added.
