Wanted accused arrested after ten years

A 33-year-old man who had allegedly absconded after securing bail in a sale of illicit arrack case, has been arrested after a gap of ten years.

Murugesan, the accused was arrested in Bhavani in the district in 2001 for allegedly selling illicit arrack, police said. However, he absconded without attending the case after securing bail, they said. Meanwhile the bail was cancelled.

On Sunday, the accused was located at Chennai and Bhavani police arrested him, police said. He was remanded to judicial custody after being produced before the judicial magistrate, Bhavani, on Monday, they added.
