The DLF City Residents’ Welfare Association and others have moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court against illegal and indiscriminate dumping of garbage and municipal solid waste close to their houses. The plea was heard by the Division Bench of Chief Justice T.S. Thakur and Justice Surya Kant.

At least 40 residents from Gurgaon, including CEOs, senior citizens and cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s mother, Shabnam Singh, were present.

They sought the high court’s intervention for immediate and urgent measures to stop the illegal dumping of garbage there. The Chief Justice assured that Bench was monitoring the case closely.

Officials from the HUDA, MC Gurgaon and Forest Department were also present for the hearing.

The residents later went to Panchkula and called on Chief Administrator HUDA T.C. Gupta and HUDA Administrator G. Anupama.

Cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s mother Shabnam said the residents of DLF phase I were suffering on account of foul stench emanating from the dump.
