A massive jam was witnessed from Rajiv Chowk to Hero Honda Chowk, leaving thousands of commuters stranded on roads for hours.

Commuters had a hard time navigating the intersection. “I was trapped in a jam at Hero Honda Chowk for more than two hours. There was a complete mess and the pumps at the site failed to solve the problem,” said BR Wasan, a commuter.

Earlier, the city traffic police had asked the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) and the Gurgaon Expressway concessionaire DSCL (Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited) to clear the water from the crossing.

Though the DSCL claimed to have installed three pumps to solve the problem, the situation did not improve much on the expressway. The company has blamed large-scale encroachment along the expressway and a non-functional drainage system for the mess.

“As a concessionaire, the DSCL can’t do much to solve the waterlogging problem . The area near Hero Honda Chowk gets choked due to encroachment, blocking natural water drains,” said a DSCL spokesperson.
