It certainly was the big night for Saif Ali Khan. After months of publicity, his first production Love Aaj Kal premiered in Delhi amidst much fanfare on Thursday night. While Saif walked the red carpet looking royal in a black tuxedo, with the leading lady Deepika by his side, his real ladylove gave the event a miss. Yes, to everyone’s disappointment, Kareena Kapoor, who, everyone hoped would be there to cheer Saif on, was not present at the event. Instead she chose to relax in the spa at Hotel Leela Kempinski in Gurgaon.
While the media and aam junta or ‘mango people’ [Saif Ali Khan’s favourite dialogue in the film] waited anxiously to see the two lovebirds together, they had to be satisfied with just Saif, Deepika, Rishi Kapoor and film’s Director Imtiaz Ali.
According to a well-placed source, Bebo had initially planned to walk the red carpet with Saif, but he changed the plans at the last minute. “Kareena was tired, she got a massage and took a nap. Once Saif got free from the premiere, the two had dinner with members from the Kapoor family at the hotel,” added the source.
Even Saif’s parents and sister Sabah, who live in Delhi, gave the function a royal miss.
