Opposition leader Eknath Khadse has asked to know whether newly appointed union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde had received information about Wednesday night’s serial bomb blasts in Pune, that he did not share with State government.
Khadse, who came down to Pune to visit the blast sites, told media persons that it was surprising that Shinde cancelled his visit to Pune at the eleventh hour. “What was such an emergency for Shinde that he had to cancel his Pune visit, which was scheduled much earlier?” Khadse asked. He claimed that Shinde had to take the people into confidence on this issue as it involves coordination among various agencies.
Khadse said the situation in Pune was becoming alarming. “State government has miserably failed to deter terrorist activities here,” he said, demanding that the government go to roots of these organisations and conduct a fast inquiry.
RPI leader Ramdas Athwale and opposition leader in legislative council, Vindo Tawde, accompanied Khadse.
Home minister RR Patil, who came down to Pune late at night to visit the blast site, was monitoring all the investigations. Patil was in Deccan Gymkhana police station where he had called for a meeting of all senior police officials at Circuit House.
