The West Indies Cricket Board is contemplating hosting a tri-series involving India and Sri Lanka before the cricket World Cup in March 2007.
West Indies team manager Tony Howard said though the plan was not concrete yet WICB hoped it would work.
"We (management team) have sent in some proposals to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and whether or not they will be on the cards, I'm not sure, but the proposals are in and we are hoping they would work," Howard was quoted as saying in the Jamaica Observer on Thursday.
He said the tri-series would provide some good practice for the West Indians before the mega event.
"The biggest proposal is for a tri-nation series with West Indies, India and Sri Lanka and hopefully that would give us some serious preparation for the World Cup," Howard said.
The series is likely to be held a month before the World Cup and the WICB is keen on hosting the tournament.
"We are hoping to have it played in the West Indies, but it is not settled yet. We are pitching for late January, about a month or so before the World Cup so that would be perfect preparation in the lead-up," Howard said.
