The announcement by Samajwadi Party to hold an emergency session of the party at the Lakshman Mela Ground here on November 25 has stumped Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) officials. Reason: the ruling party has not made it clear as to which Lakshman Mela venue it is refering to, the old or the new one?

The civic agency’s anxiety on the issue is understandable. This is because it has recently turned down the request of former BJP deputy mayor Abhay Seth to seek the old venue for holding a party rally on December 24 followed by birthday celebrations of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the next day.
Neither Mayor Dinesh Sharma nor municipal commissioner Ram Buddh Maurya were not available for comments.
