Sabeera Khan, a housewife from Mira Road, delivered male quintuplets at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in suburban Andheri.

"Its the first case of male quintuplets in India where all babies have survived. In earlier cases, not all the five babies have survived with some of them dying within hours," Dr Suchitra Pandit, Head of Gynaecologist department at the hospital told PTI.

The woman, who already has a 10-month-old baby boy, is doing well, she said, adding, "of the five babies, two are on ventilator and the remaining in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)."

"It was a pre-mature delivery and there could have been some complications but we had a plan in place and were well prepared for it," Pandit said.
