The deceased, identified as Ambica from Vellore district, was working at the manual loader-phase three on Sunday when the accident occurred, they said.

Ambica’s head and neck got jammed in the loader and she sustained severe injuries, they said. She was rushed to a hospital here but succumbed to the injuries.

The firm was investigating the circumstances that led to the accident, a company spokesperson said.

“Safety and security of our employees is of utmost concern for us. Any such incident as this will be investigated properly as per factory norms and guidelines,” he said.

The handset manufacturer currently has around 7,000 employees at the facility and women constitute 70% of the workforce.
