A WOMAN died after being hit by a speeding truck in Piplani area on Thursday evening. According to police, Amaria (55), a native of Sonkutch (Dewas) was pillion riding the motorcycle along with her son Jagdish when a truck (MP 20/G-4033) hit them near Hathaikheda.
Amaria, who fell off the motorcycle, was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead. She had possibly sustained internal injuries. She had come to Bhopal to see the Muharram processions here. Her son stays in Bhopal. Angered by the mishap, local residents damaged the truck and staged a chakka jam.
The police have arrested truck driver Salim (30), a resident of Ginnauri, in this connection. He has been booked for negligent driving leading to death. The truck was laden with groundnut and was on way to Mandideep.
