A woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Raipur village near here, police said on Thursday.

The woman, identified as Santosh Yadav (29), was found dead inside a room at her house by one of her neighbours on Wednesday, they said.

Her husband Rajender Yadav, is a driver of a Gurgaon-based call centre cab, and was away on duty on Monday night, while her eight-year-old daughter was sleeping in the courtyard, the neighbours said.

According to the postmortem report, Santosh Yadav died due to strangulation, adding that on a complaint filed by the victim’s husband Rajender, a case of attempt to rape and murder has been registered against unidentified persons.
