A poor tribal woman, who had eloped with and married a Maoist 10 years ago, has surrendered with her two minor children in Kaimur district of Bihar.

Sarita Kharwar, 32, turned her back on left-wing extremism by laying down her arms in the presence of CRPF and district police officials late Wednesday.

Security personnel present were taken aback to find that accompanying Kharwar were her two sons Bipin, 8, and JP, 4.
This has put officials in a quandary, as Kharwar faces a considerable time in jail in connection with Maoist killings in which she remains a named accused.
She worked as a courier and intelligence gatherer in Bihar and UP.
The officials have persuaded Kharwar’s mother to take the children in her custody.
