The woman received 60% burn injuries and has been undergoing treatment at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.

According to the police, the couple got married only four months back. The victim's husband Prem, an auto-rickshaw driver, and his sister Sushma poured kerosene on the woman before setting her ablaze on Tuesday. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but later referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi as her condition was critical.

"We have taken the victim's statement and lodged a case of harassment for dowry and attempt to murder against both the accused and they will be arrested soon," a police officer said.

In a separate case, the city police have booked four members of a family for trying to kill a newly-wed woman.

The victim Renu Yadav, 20, who got married to Narendra, 25 recently, was given some poisonous substance in her food. She was rushed to a hospital, where her condition is stated to be normal.
