Woman throws acid on 3 men, scalds them in Bihar

Police claim she attacked them during a meeting to sort out a dispute over 'illegal huts'.

Three men were injured when a woman allegedly threw acid on them over a dispute over removal of structures built on land that had been encroached upon, illegally.

The incident took place on Sunday in Sabalpur village in Deedarganj police station of Patna district, a few kilometers east of Patna City, the old part of the state capital. The injured have been admitted to a private nursing home for treatment. Officials said they were out of danger.

Deedarganj SHO Surendra Singh said on getting information about the incident, a police team rushed to the spot to investigate the matter. "Although it has been confirmed that the incident took place, no case has been lodged in this regard so far", he stated.

According to the police, the incident took place when a meeting was going on between members of a panchayat and some villagers over the issue of removal of some huts that had been raised in Sabalpur village.

"Suddenly, a woman arrived there in the midst of the meeting and threw acid on those participating in the meeting. Three men were injured in the attack", said a police officer.

The woman fled after attacking the men, he said.
