Shri Ram Lila Club Barara claimed that world tallest effigy of demon king Ravana has been set ablaze at this suburb 25 kilo meters from Ambala.
Founder of the club, Tejinder Singh Chauhan has informed that an effigy of a 185 feet record height has been raised this year which has found mention into the Limca Book of world records.
He said that since the Ravana was the symbol of malevolence the club symbolically registers its protest over decline in values.
Chauhan informed that for the past twenty years the club has been orgainsing the function adding that last years size of Ravana was 171 feet.
"Last year when a TV channel had claimed that the India's tallest Ravana measuring 151 feet was brunt in Chennai we had challenged the claim as our effigy was of 171 feet", added Chauhan.
Organisers informed that the effigy of Ravana which was prepared in six months and quintals of iron bars, hundreds of bamboo sticks, fiber sheets and nearly 25 quintal adhesive has been used.
They said the cost has worked out Rs 18 lakh which has been prepared by Agra based artesian Mohamad Ushman and his 25 members’ team who have been camping here since April.

{{/usCountry}}Earlier the effigies were transported into the ground with the help of cranes and large number of people had started thronging the venue.
MM University, Mullana chancellor Tarsem Garg put the effigy on fire with the help of electronic remote control.
The administration had made elaborate arrangements while hundreds of stalls had come up in the vicinity.
Meanwhile, governor Jaganath Phahadia’s secretary Mahinder Kumar was the chief guest at Ram Lila grounds and DC Samir Pal Srow was the chief guest at central phoenix club where effigies of Ravan Kumbhkaran and Meghnath were set on fire.
