Diversified Yash Birla Group has inked an MoU with Lavasa Corporation to set up a school,
Birla Global School at lavasa city.
Lavasa, near Pune, is free India's first planned hill city being developed by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC)
across 25,000 acres of land and the school will be located in the second town at Mugaon.
"This collaboration with Yash Birla group will further help in the development of Lavasa as a centre of excellence in
education and research. The partnership is based on the common interest to bring world class education to India," Lavasa's President, Rajgopal Nogja, said in a statement here.
The school will be a residential one with various international departments and international boards. It is
scheduled to commence in 2012-13.
"The tie up will help impart quality education to hundreds of children from different continents. It will start
in academic year 2012-13," the Yash Birla Group Chairman, Yash Birla, said.
Lavasa is in the process of setting up a world class university on the lines of the Boston Massachusetts model. It
has also partnered with the United States Space Research Centre (USSRC) for a 50-acre NASA theme park which introduces visitors to the latest in space technology.
