Senior BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa, heading the BJP-JDS coalition, will be sworn in as Karnataka CM on Nov 12, TV reported.
Earlier, Yeddyurappa was slated to meet Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Friday afternoon.
The Governor was to formally extend him an invitation to form the government.
BJP and JDS sources had said Yeddyurappa is expected to be sworn in as chief minister on Monday. He would be the BJP's first chief minister in the south.
The Union Cabinet on Thursday decided to end Central rule in the State and revive the Assembly which had been kept under suspended animation.
Meanwhile, the JDS has convened a meeting on Sunday, ahead of the government formation, the party's state unit president Merajuddin Patel told PTI.
Asked whether former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy would take the Deputy Chief Minister's post, Patel said the decision has been left to the party supremo and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda.
He sought to downplay the 12-point 'memorandum of understanding' on government formation that Deve Gowda had sent to the BJP's central leadership, saying it's not a pre-condition and it is merely an understanding between the two partners for smooth governance.
"It's kind of a bondage for the two partners to behave responsibly and with a sense of understanding. It is also to caution BJP," he added.
