BOOKS ON yog, yogis and Ayurved seem to dominate the book fair along with other spiritual stuff this time around, if one goes by the average choice of sellers and the buyers at the Balrampur Gardens.
Bookstall owners are claiming a good number of buyers for these books.
Baba Ramdev, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Osho, J Krishnamurti, Vivekanand and Kabir are an instant hit with the masses. Dr Deenanath Rai, who himself writes books on Ayurveda and spirituality and has set up a stall at the fair says, “I have been to a couple of book fairs and such books are very famous with the masses.
In Lucknow too people are coming and buying these books. I have noticed that more and more people are buying books related to psychological problems and diseases like heart related problems.”
Books and CD’s on yoga are selling like hot cakes. Baba Ramdev’s books on yoga and tips on healthy eating are in demand and booksellers are wondering that they might have to call for more stock. Surya Bharti Prakashan, Delhi is the stall that is selling a large number of these CD’s and books. This stall also has books on vastu, yoga and spirituality.
Books by renowned thinkers like Kabir, Vivekanand, J Krishnamurti, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Osho have found a distinct space for themselves in this book fair. Stall named Kabir Peace Mission I selling books on Kabir’s life, teachings and lessons one should follow in life. “Complete works of Swami Vivekanand in about seven volumes is priced at Rs 960 and is a major attraction for this stall,” said Vivekanand’s stall owner. He added, “Little pocket books by Vivekanand like Power of Mind and Power Capsule are priced at Rs 10-15 and are a good buy as well.”

{{/usCountry}}Similarly, the stall on J Krishnamurti’s teachings, philosophies and life are always a hit in the book fair. This stall was set up last year as well and people quite liked it said the stall owner. The latest addition in his stall is the biography of J Krishinamurti.
Motilal Banarasi Das from Varanasi is another stall where one can find spiritual books relevant to modern times. Different books on Hindu Philosophy, mythology, scriptures and Vedic literature and mathematics are found in abundance here.
Bhagwad Vani Prakashan, Tat Baba Foundation, Sant Nirankari Sahitya, Chinmaya Mission and Pustak Mahal are some other stalls that have books on spirituality and religion.
