Your efforts have won global recognition. The Hindustan Times ‘You Read, They Learn’ initiative, through which readers help fund the education of underprivileged kids, bagged the top honours at the International News Media Association Awards held in New York on Tuesday.

The project, which has helped over 10,000 poor children go to school over the last 12 months, was presented the ‘Best in Show’ award among over 500 entries from 30 countries. The initiative was also adjudged first in the ‘Public Relations and Community Service’ category among large newspapers. According to INMA, the project was “differentiating and impactful”, and “judges lauded the project for its powerful message and strong imagery”.

‘You Read, They Learn’ was launched in April 2012. For every copy of Hindustan Times bought in the Delhi-NCR area, we set aside a part of the cover price in a fund to help educate needy children. Hindustan Times has partnered with CRY and Pratham, two of the most credible NGOs working in the space of primary education, to ensure that the funds are properly utilised.
