Continuing his barbs at DMK, senior Congress leader E V K S Elangovan on Saturday claimed the entire Youth Congress in Tamil Nadu had told AICC leader Rahul Gandi during his recent visit that the cadre did not want DMK to return to power in next assembly elections.
Elangovan said the party cadre in the state were not happy with the DMK government and had expressed their sentiments to Gandhi who visited Tamil Nadu early this week as part of his ongoing exercise to rejuvenate the organisation.
Talking to reporters in Madurai, he said the only reason for so much of displeasure among Congressmen was that the DMK government had "turned into a family-centred rule".
Elangovan, who has been critical of DMK government, expressed the hope that the high command would respect the sentiments of the 14.5 lakh Youth Congress members.
To a question, he said that so far as he knew, Congress President Sonia Gandhi had not stated that the alliance with DMK would continue for assembly elections due early next year.
Gandhi had, during his interactions with the Youth Congress workers, asked them to work at grass root levels to enable formation of a Congress government in the state where it had been out of power for 40 years.

{{/usCountry}}Referring to DMK government's flagship programmes of free distribution of TV sets and rice at Rs one a kg, he suggested it could instead provide employment to three lakh unemployed people by filling vacancies in government services.
He also asked the government to take action against anti-social elements involved in land grabbing without any party bias.
