Youth held for rape, murder of 10-yr-old girl

A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping and murdering a 10-year-old girl about 30 km from Sonepat, police said today.

A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping and murdering a 10-year-old girl about 30 km from Sonepat, police said on Wednesday.

The body of the girl, hailing from Diwana village in Panipat district, was recovered from Sargathal village, about 30 km from Sonepat, on Tuesday. She had come to the village and was living with her relative, they said.

The accused Manjit, who had allegedly lured the girl on the pretext of giving some food to her, but instead took her to the village chaupal where he allegedly raped and later murdered her, has been arrested.
