Zol cherishes lessons learnt from Sehwag

For Maharashtra U-19 player, Vijay Zol, who eclipsed a whole lot of records en route his mammoth 451 against Assam U-19 in the Cooch Behar Trophy in Nashik on Friday, it was a day of reckoning when he met Virender Sehwag six months ago. "It was in June this year. I was at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for rehabilitation. That is where, believe it or not, I met him."

"I am very lucky to have met Sehwag. People don't even get a chance to meet their idols and here I was getting tips from him," said Zol.

So, what prompted Sehwag to share his thoughts with the lad? "I happened to tell him that I was the highest run-getter in the U-16 category last year. He was very impressed and told me that he would give me his bat."

Zol cherishes every tip he got from his 'hero'. He told me, "Just keep scoring runs. Never back off from tough situations. But, at the same time, be happy with what you score. He also gave me his autographed bat," said Zol.

So, does he plan to keep the bat safely or does he plan to thwack the ball with it? "I plan to use it. Though I haven't used it as yet, I will because, after all, it is Sehwag's bat."
