About 2,000 Congress workers staged a demonstration at Pardeshipura Square on Thursday to protest against the ongoing Global Investors' Summit. The party workers, led by MP Congress Committee president Arun Yadav, alleged that state government spent crores of rupees on holding GIS though investment flow in MP remains weak.

Yadav reiterated that it's a waste of people’s money collected in form of taxes. The party leaders who addressed the agitation called investors' meet a farce. The party workers began to assemble at the venue at 10am. They released black balloons in air as mark of protest. Those who took part in agitation included Sajjan Singh Verma, MLA Jitu Patwari and city Congress president Pramod Tondon.
After address, the protestors attempted to march towards Global Investors' Summit venue. A scuffle ensued between police and Congress party workers as police stopped them. Meanwhile, city BJP president Kailash Sharma in a press statement said defeated Congress has lost its balance of mind and therefore has begun to use abusive language. "The Congress is anti-development and it is ingrained in its character," he said.
