Indore: DAVV to bring in ‘special exam’ pattern in UTD

The decision will benefit the university students, especially the final semester students, who fail to clear all subjects in the main examinations.

Earlier, a controversy took place over the matter when the National Students Union of India (NSUI) activists barged into the International Institute of Professional Studies (IIPS), one of the UTD departments, on July 10 and disrupted the special exam, officially known as ATKT (allowed to keep term), being conducted by the IIPS administration.

The ATKT exam allows students a chance to clear their pending papers within a span of two months.

Raising protest against the department move, the NSUI members asked why the IIPS students be given the special privilege of special exam. They also took up the matter with DAVV vice-chancellor DP Singh, who subsequently formed a three-member panel to look into the matter.

The new pattern will benefit both under-graduate and post-graduate students, particularly of sixth and fourth semester respectively, as they will not have to wait for six months to clear their pending papers.

According to information, if a student from UG and PG course got ATKT in one or two subjects in fourth or sixth semester respectively, they need to appear in ATKT exam minimum after six months, but now they could save this time by appearing in the special exam.
