The mayor visited zone 1 and 2 on Monday and scanned registers. She inspected department-wise records and directed officials to act swiftly on the complaints of the residents.

“If you resolve the complaints immediately at zonal level, the residents will not be required to make complaints on CM Helpline,” she said, hinting at host of complaints about poor drinking water street lights, filthy streets by residents that prompted her to plan a ten-day ward scan drive.

The mayor also reviewed revenue records of the zonal offices and directed the officials to conduct regular surveys of their localities to check building permission violations.

“Several buildings that had been approved for residential purpose were turned into commercial units. We are losing a lot of revenue due to such violations,” she said.

Gaud also ordered the zonal officials to fine people seen littering garbage on streets or back lanes, which chokes drainage systems.

Municipal commissioner Manish Singh , who accompanied the mayor, ordered deputy commissioner Narendra Sharma to probe the allegations of embezzlement of funds by zonal officers.

He warned the officials of legal action if the bills are not deposited in the municipal corporation.

The mayor also asked Citelum India Limited to repair the non-functional street lights, and ordered strict action against encroachments by kiosks on roads.
