Indore SP's father commits suicide by shooting self

The father of an Indore-based senior police officer allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in his hometown in Gwalior. Dr RP Sharma shot himself with a revolver, said police.

The father of a senior Indore-based police officer allegedly committed suicide in his hometown, Gwalior. Dr RP Sharma shot himself with a revolver, said police.

His son Anil Sharma is posted as Superintendent of Police (SP) at Indore. The incident occurred in Gwalior on Thursday. Dr RP Sharma was ailing for a long time.

It is suspected that he was upset because of his illness. When the domestic help went into his room, he found the elderly man dead. Subsequently, the police station was informed.

A firearm was also found near the body. Dr Sharma was suffering from cancer and diabetes. He is survived by three sons and a daughter. His son Anil Sharma is posted as SP, headquarters, at Indore.

The Gwalior police have registered a case and have begun investigation to ascertain the circumstances that prompted him to end his life.
