A list of over 100 impostors handed over to Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UPSTF) a few days ago by their counterparts in Madhya Pradesh for their alleged involvement in Professional Examination Board (PEB) scam, has become a thorn in the flesh of UPSTF.

Most of the addresses mentioned in the list are turning out to be wrong. Uttar Pradesh police have raided more than a dozen places in Lucknow to nab seven imposters wanted in connection with the PEB scam but no one was found at the address given by the MPSTF.

"The problem we are facing is that most of the impostors have mentioned wrong addresses or the address where they were living on rent. Hence, we failed in our raids in Lucknow. Now, we are looking at other options to search them and we hope it will work," said ASP, Uttar Pradesh STF Triveni Singh while talking to Hindustan Times.

According to UPTSF sources, most of the accused in the list are paper solvers, some are students who used to appear for competitive examinations and some also hold MBBS degree.

Madhya Pradesh STF had sought support from UPSTF and subsequently about a dozen teams including the local units of STF in UP have been given the list.

Nearly 1,300 students have been expelled from MP medical colleges for using unfair means to get admission.

According to STF sources, the modus operandi used by the scamsters was to provide fake candidates to take the examination instead of the actual candidates with whom they struck deals for getting them admitted in medical colleges of Madhya Pradesh.

The list includes accused from Kanpur (60), Raibaiary (3), Varanasi (2), Lucknow (7), Lakhimpur Khiri (1), Kushinagar 91), Azamgarah (2) Itawa (1), Sant Kabir Nagar (2) and other districts of Uttar Pradesh.
