NSUI members barge into DAVV exam controller's office in Indore, hold him captive

The Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) administrative campus (Nalanda campus) on Friday witnessed a high-voltage drama when more than a dozen National Students Union of India (NSUI) members barged into university exam controller Ashesh Tiwari’s office and held him captive for more than 15 minutes over the issue of non-declaration of long pending BCom fourth semester results.

The Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) administrative campus (Nalanda campus) on Friday witnessed a high-voltage drama when more than a dozen National Students Union of India (NSUI) members barged into university exam controller Ashesh Tiwari’s office and held him captive for more than 15 minutes over the issue of non-declaration of long pending BCom fourth semester results.

NSUI state president Vipin Wankhede, who led the protest against the university exam department, claimed that more than 3,000 BCom fourth semester students who had appeared in the ‘allowed to keep term’ (ATKT) examination about a month back are yet to get their results.

“In the absence of results, how could the students get admission in post-graduate courses, which will be ending on July 27,” the NSUI leader said.

NSUI members have alleged that repeated requests from students to university officials to declare their results so they could get admission in PG courses fell on deaf ears.

Revealing what transpired before the NSUI member put a lock on the exam controller’s door, Wankhede said, “After NSUI members asked Tiwari to announce the results by Saturday or (at least) issue confidential results so (the student) could get admission in PG courses, he said he will (instead) tender his resignation. On this, we asked him to put down his papers immediately and then put a lock on his cabin entrance.”

Meanwhile, the university has decided to register a first information report (FIR) against the NSUI members who alleged barged into Tiwari’s office and manhandled him.

Repeated attempts to reach Tiwari for comment on the matter failed.
