Politicians sweep already clean streets in Indore

Holding brooms in hands, state urban administration and development minister Kailash Vijayvargiya (who also heads MP's municipal bodies) along with BJP MLA Ramesh Mendola, party corporators and BJP office bearers cleaned the road around Patanipura square at 9.35am.

Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) sanitation workers had swept the same patch of road an hour before as the minister was to administer oath of keeping the city clean at Patanipura square.

Vijayvargiya told mediapersons that Thursday's launch was the beginning of renewed initiative which will motivate all sections of society to keep their surroundings clean. However, few yards away from Patanipura square, the inner streets lay strewn with garbage with cows and dogs swirling around to look for food.

"They are sweeping where it is not needed. Their actual job would be to make people throw garbage inside the container so that it doesn’t spill on road and stink," a housewife in Nanda Nagar said wishing anonymity.

Later, Vijayvargiya took part in cleanliness rally from Malharshram to Regal square after which he called on residents to devote time for keeping their localities clean.IMC joins campaign

Members of residents’ welfare societies swept streets at different places in the city as part of Swachha Bharat Abhiyan on Thursday. Mayor KM Moghe, local BJP leaders, party corporators joined them to clean streets.
